Contest Introduction:

Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) is designated as State Designated Agency (UPSDA) by Government of Uttar Pradesh to coordinate, regulate and enforce the provision of the Energy Conservation Act-2001 and implement schemes within the State of Uttar Pradesh. Detailed information on role, responsibilities and various activities conducted by UPSDA can be obtained from our website www.upsavesenergy.com

Objective: UPSDA is in process to revamp its communication and outreach efforts, as part of which it is also planning to redesign its existing logo. The objective is to develop an organizational logo which is combination of text and visual imagery and give enough information about UPSDA’s mission, vision and activities to the audience.

Accordingly, UPSDA has decided to organize a Logo design contest wherein all individuals/ entities (organizations, group, associations and businesses) are invited to participate. This approach is expected to further augment the organization’s outreach efforts by providing motive to the participants to know more about UPSDA.


The Terms of Reference (ToR) for participating in the contest as described below:


  1. The Contest is open to all Indian citizens and entities registered in India.
  2. The participant needs to enroll by filling the registration form provided on the website of UPSDA. The information provided here will be used for all future communications; therefore, it is the responsibility of participant to ensure that the information provided is accurate. Entries with incomplete details would not be considered.
  3. The fee for participating in the contest is Rs 500/- per entry. The participation fee (non-refundable/ non-adjustable) can be paid by Demand Draft in favor of “Director UPNEDA”, payable at Lucknow. The draft should reach to Incharge UPSDA, 4th floor UPNEDA Head office, Vibhuti Khand Gomti Nagar Lucknow-226010. The last date of registration and submission of final logo design along with all necessary document is 13th January 2021 (Wednesday)
  4. One participant can submit multiple entries and separate draft should be enclosed for each entry.
  5. The artwork should be developed as per following instructions and specifications:
    • It must not contain any provocative, objectionable or inappropriate content
    • It must be original work and should not violate any provision of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 and any other applicable regulations
    • It must not infringe on the Intellectual Property Rights of any third party. All entries are governed by the provisions of Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950 and any violation of the said Act will result in disqualification
    • The logo should be designed on a digital platform in high resolution with minimum 300 DPI (Dots per Inch).
    • A specification sheet containing graphical construction of the design, along with final design, and concept is required to be submitted.
    • The participant should not imprint or watermark logo design
    • The logo package submitted to UPSDA should include the original vector source, a PDF that is also vector, as well as Raster JPEGs and/or PNGs that can be place in word document, emails, website listings, etc. Further, it would come in 3 folders; i) CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) for print, ii) RGB (Red, Green, and Blue) for web or TV, and flat Black and White for things like a color imprints on special items.
    • The responsibility to comply with the guidelines and other conditions fully lies with the participant. UPSDA does not bear any responsibility for copyright violations or infringements of intellectual property or any dispute raised by a third party due to work carried out by the participants
  6. The participants should upload their entry(ies) in JPEG/ PNG/ PDF by 13th January 2021 (Wednesday). No exceptions will be made to this and the participant will be sole responsible for rejections due to late submission.
  7. Every entry must be accompanied by a brief write-up/ explanation of the design and how it best represents UPSDA. The explanation provided should not be more than 250 words.
  8. Participants to keep the editable/ open file format also ready – this shall be required to be submitted later for the winning entry. During the course of evaluation, contest organizers may ask participants to resubmit their entry in different size(s)/ format(s) etc.
  9. The winning logo(s) would be the intellectual property of UPSDA, and the winners cannot exercise any right/ claim over them thereafter. The winner shall be deemed to have surrendered copyrights of the winning logo to UPSDA as soon as the results are declared. Winner will also be required to give an undertaking for the same
  10. UPSDA will have sole and comprehensive rights related to the use of Logo(s) either as it is or after making suitable amendments.
  11. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to amend the terms and conditions or withdraw the competition at any time.
  12. UPSDA reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the Contest and/ or the Terms & Conditions/ Technical Parameters/ Evaluation Criteria. However, any changes to the Terms & Conditions/ Technical Parameters/ Evaluation Criteria, or cancellation of the Contest, will be updated/posted on www.upsavesenergy.com
  13. It would be the responsibility of the participants to keep themselves informed about any changes in the Terms & Conditions, Technical Parameters and Evaluation Criteria stated for this Contest by visiting the website of UPSDA regularly (www.upsavesenergy.com).
  14. The participant must be the same person who has designed the logo and the motto (text), and no plagiarism of any kind would be allowed
  15. The result of the contest would be declared on UPSDA website. The winning entries would likely be required to present their design and concept in presence of dignitaries at UPSDA organized event.
  16. Selection Process
    • All entries received by the stipulated date and time and found in order, shall be evaluated by UPSDA.
    • Entries would be judged on the basis of elements of creativity, originality, composition, technical excellence, simplicity, artistic merit and visual impact and how well they communicate about UPSDA. (The participants cannot submit the same concept / logo in any other contest / competition as submitted in this contest till the results are declared for this contest)
    • Top three entries will be awarded.
    • The Winner will be provided cash prize of Rs 1,00,000.00 (Rs One Lakh only) along with Certificate
    • Both the runner up will be provided certificate and memento
    • The decision of UPSDA would be final and binding on all the contestants and no clarifications would be issued to any participants on any decision of UPSDA
  17. Any legal proceedings arising out of the contest/ its entries/ winners shall be in accordance with laws of Union of India and that of the State of Uttar Pradesh as the case may be and the High Court of Allahabad, Lucknow bench shall have exclusive jurisdiction in all matters arising under this competition.
